I picked up a little HB pummelo tree from home depot that I am planning to use to topwork my grapefruit since I am tired of seeing grapefruits rotting on the tree every year. My wife claims to like grapefruit, but eats maybe 6 a year. I can't stand them so even after giving tons away I am usually left cleaning up hundreds of rotting grapefruits off of the ground later in the year. The pummelo looks to be grown from a cutting. It is one of those little 1 gal pots Home Depot sells. I was probably going to give away the actual tree away after I am sure the grafts have taken but I was wondering if the Pummelo's do well on their own roots here in FL?

pommelo does pretty well on its own roots i have an air layer that has only been in the ground for less than a year and it grew allot faster than when i had it poted and it is full of blooms right now. pommelo can take wetter conditions than allot of the other citrus so it must be grown from air layers or cuttings allot. wonder if seedlings would be a good rootstock for other citrus.
