Hello folks,

We discussed about germinations a few months ago. I checked my seedlings today.

Well, I thought that kaffir lime seeds did not germinate but... I finally recongized recent new leaves. They looks like doubly glossy leaves. I was able identified seedlings as kaffir limes.

Other seedlings are growing like mad and new leaves are getting bigger and bigger. Leaves looks like raindrop-shaped. Viens in leaves looks like curly forks. They are growing faster than kaffir lime seedlings. Can anyone identifly that variety because I never had seen raindrop-shaped leaves on citrus seedlings before?

My seeds were moro orange, citron etrog, ugli fruit, and kaffr lime from Trade Wind Fruits web site. I believe that moro orange amd ugli fruit seeds did not germinate. Possibly citron etrog seeds (rated 90-100%) and kaffir lime seeds (rated 50%) did germinated.

Thanks!
Tim

Not sure about those raindrop shaped leaves. I also ordered some UGLI fruit seeds from tradewinds that didn't germinate until I put them in one of those mini seedling things you get at the nursery and plopped it right on top of a heating pad. ($12.00 at CVS Pharmacy). 10 days and 3 of the 5 seeds were up. Threw away the other two.

FYI the UGLI won't grow true to form from seed, I have learned.

Well,

I sow seeds in each row per variety. I think that it started with citron etrong, kaffir lime, moro orange, and ugli fruit. First row, they are growing faster and bigger then 2nd row. Their leaves are so big like a elephant ear leaf but it looks like "water-drop" shaped (look at top picture). Kaffir lime leaves looks like doubly leaves (look at bottom picture). Can anyone confirm that or so?

Thanks!
Tim

The leaf looks much like the ones on my kaffir lime seedlings. I've noticed the petioles on my mature plant are relatively longer and wider.

Hello folks,

Well, thanks for replies. Now I was able idenified two varieties as kaffir lime and citron etrog. When I research about citron etrog, I found a few web sites and finally recongized leaves like my seedlings. They said that Etrog leaves looks like raindrop-shaped oval leaves.

Now I can label them as kaffir lime and citron etrog seedlings.

About etrog tree, it will grow very fast. Yes, I noticed that etrog seedlings are growing like mad (very fast). For one year, a tree will be three feet tall. For two years, it will be 4-feet tall, etc...

Thanks!
Tim
