I live in Los angeles and this weekend my mom bought a variegated pink lemon tree from homedepot, I just noticed that at the botom it had a yellow label stating "This plant shall not be moved out of the area quarantined for asian citrus psyllid" I went to the website that it had on the label and just learned about this. Is the tree that my mom bought safe? should we take back to homedepot? it looks healthy though. Was she not supposed to buy it or is it just a label to warm not to take out of the state? The people there ddin't say anything when she bought it.

One would need to know the area you bought it and the area you plan to take it. If not far I would say the tree itself is safe.

milknsky, I answered you over on the GW Citrus Forum, so same answer here: standard procedure for us in California. All citrus sold in retail nurseries will be treated, inspected and certified. They will all have this label. Since you're in Los Angeles county, you'll not want to take your citrus outside the county per our CDFA regulations. So, not to worry, this is normal to see on all citrus trees for sale. You WANT to see that label on your citrus tree you purchase Smile
