With the frost warning tonite, I decided to go ahead & pick it.

The fruit is large, the rind is thick, but definitely not "puffy."

It wasn't bad at all. It wasn't really good either. I was expecting something tart, instead the fruit was a little watery & the flavor was mild. I guess it's better than bitterness to set your teeth on edge. Makes me wonder if the flavor would have been better if I picked it a couple of weeks ago.

Hey, It's the first fruit (only fruit). It can only get better.

A Mandarin tree normally begins to produce quality tasting fruit in its 5th or 6th year. - Millet (1,166-)
