It has been a couple years since my last post, so just a quick note on my citrus.
I now have 8 citrus trees that are bearing--one new Ponkan mandarin that I had grafted before the FL ban on propagation is now bearing. I also have 2 seedling trees that were planted before the ban ( I lost the identification of the source) but they have not born fruit yet.
My clear favorite of the 25 or so varieties that I have is the Ponkan mandarin, few citrus I have ever tasted beat it in my opinion--maybe a Nules clementine.
I have been impressed with the hang time for my Daisy Mandarin--and taste wise I would put it as #2 in my yard. It does have a few negatives--it splits badly in this environment, it has a tight peel and it has lots of seeds. But It is the first citrus ready in my yard--ready to eat in late Sept,--it taste good--an it is still great in Feb.
My Moro blood orange has done really well here and it a ton of wine colored juice that is very sweet.
