A persimmon bark graft. This branch was hana fuyu for 6 or 8 years and never bloomed. The ichi jiro bloomed the 2nd year. Out with hana fuyu and in with giombo. I had to pull up my mature giombo tree to add on to my garage and saved some wood for my remaining tree. I say, giombo, but it is supposed to be astringent and is non-astringent. Darn fine tasting persimmon, one of my favorites. I need to plant a saijo, another one of my favorites. I used to have a mature saijo but it made so much fruit I couldn't eat it all so I chopped it down to reduce my trees from 3 to 2.

Interesting. Isn't persimmon one of the most difficult grafts with one of the lowest take rates?
