ONLY IF you live nearby. This is an announcement I made to our local group:

I will be doing a grafting demo to small kids and some patient adults this coming Saturday, Feb 3, 2007 from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon in my small yard.

Since my yard is small I can only accommodate about 8 at a time, 4 kids and 4 adults for the demo. We will be grafting apples, quinces, European pears, and Asian pears for this coming Saturday. So if you can email, first come first accommodated. I will be grafting till the trees bloom, so there are about at least 4 more weekends to go through.

I have more than 200 fruiting cultivars to get scionwood from my yard although I have more than 375 fruiting cultivars in my tiny yard. I may have some scionwood to spare for those who can guarantee me that they will be able to graft them and not rot away and forgotten in the vegetable bin of the fridge. So learn how to graft from my demo and add those varieties to your trees.

Remember to send email and will see where we can fit you, but the first one will be this Saturday.

JoeReal would you list the varieties that you have on that tree. How long did it take to get all the grafts to work? How old was the tree when you started grafting? Great Job!!

sunrise cowboy, I've got that tree in spring of 2001. It was about 2 years old at the time I got it.

Take note, that the announcement was made about a year ago, January 2007!!!

I'm not sure if I'm going to have a demo this year.

And yes, I have finished assembling some multi-grafted cherry trees for many friends. I bought the bare-rooted trees at Home Depot, selected the ones with nice branches and spread, then I'd whip and tongue graft all the other varieties, making sure they pollinators are present for all of them.

I'll be shipping these cherries to my friends soon.

I'm half way through grafting all my peaches and nectarines all using whip and tongue and some using chip budding. Then the rains came. So it will be a while before I can resume my grafting activities.

Now is the time to apply fertilizers for your inground citruses. The late rains will bring those fertilizer down to the root zone. I will then spary copper sulfate on everything including citruses. After the danger of frost is over, I would spray oil to kill the mites and other insects overwintering in my citruses, and about a week after that would be grafting citruses using chip budding. As soon as the bark slips, will be doing bark grafting.
