I have two Variegated citrus a sour orange and an Etrog.. both were putting on new leaves that were solid green.. so I pinched them off.. it seemed as though I would not get any new growth that was variegated..
Then I left some new growth that was not variegated.. I kept telling myself I'd get it taken off eventually.. but I noticed after a few weeks it was turning Variegated..
Is this the way it works?? was I removing potential V. growth before it had a chance to turn??
Poor babies would be twice the size they are now if I'd have left them alone..

Or do I just have strange plants??

Gina many variegated citrus will put out new flushes that are light green, once they start to mature they will show the variegation. Variegated plants will have shoots that revert back to green & I do remove them, but always wait until the leaves mature & harden off so I can be sure... You will also get shoots that show new sports with different types of variegation.
