After seeing Governor Sarah Palin's speech, I am voting for her and McCain this November.

Me too, Benny. McCain was going to get my vote anyways as I had viewed him as he lesser of two evils (by a long shot), but Sarah makes the choice much easier. I think she'll kick his butt if he starts to think about doing something really stupid. Wink

Here is a video a friend sent me that I enjoyed watching. Shows you how a smart woman can make a dumb guy look stupid! http://www.breitbart.tv/?p=167493

Indeed I didn't understand every thing and the subject doesn't interest me at all, but what I see is a woman, aggressive that doesn't let the guy answer her questions, making the answer herself!
The guy is very calm and has a very clever smile when she doesn't let him answer.

That's not quite the whole story, Silvain. She is certainly aggressive. However, whenever she did let him answer he gave some ridiculous response. Like what about his response to the fact that Sarah's husband's drunk driving arrest was over 20 years ago and not even mentioned? He just said he couldn't get into all of that now. And the response regarding the "Lies" being included in the title was unbelievably stupid. His grin makes him look stupid, IMO. I think that reporter had talked to this editor earlier and knew what kind of responses she was going to get and she wasn't about to give him too much room to misrepresent things even further.

I think Hillary Clinton should use the same sort of approach with Bill! Wink

What's funny is I haven't been following much of the elections at all. I didn't follow the olympics either, but was glad that they were so close to the elections so that the media had something else to chase other than every time Obama hiccuped or McCain had his pulse taken.

I can't say I'm fed up with politics. I stand by my conservative ideals, but I think I have more of a disdain for what poltics has become. You really don't see the issues driving how people vote. It's like the dumbification of America has taken hold and what really drives an election is superficial one liners that don't mean anything like "Change". The change could be nothing more than a "change" in the oval office to decorate it with portraits of poodles dressed in pink tutu's. Yet Americans don't seem to care to find out.

But what do I know . . . I haven't been following it . . . Smile

(Do I sound like Andy Rooney or what?)

Hey Andy (formerly known as Philip),

You forget that the new President also spends a lot of money buying new china for the White House! (I can't get over how I once read that the china for one President ran something like $4,000 per place setting.)

Most of these politicians are using the word change and there are just different versions of change and just about anything that gets done can be called "change". I don't trust most politicians to say what they really mean, they end up tailoring their statements to fit with what the experts tell them the people want to hear. Sarah Palin does seen speak with sincerity. The way she cherishes her youngest child is sort of "proof in the pudding" about her pro-life position. It is also nice to have the reporters focusing on her as it seemed up to now the media was mostly focused in making a "star" out of Obama. Maybe, just maybe, there will be more focus on real issues now.

The issue with her Down's baby hits home with my wife and I since we faced an almost identical scenario. We lost our first three children. We ended up going to specialist after specialist until they finally concluded that we had less than a 1% chance of ever having children and making it to full term. Our prayers were answered and we proved the medical experts wrong when we found out we were pregnant two weeks after the diagnosis. This time everything went well until the routine test showed that we had a extremely high risk for having a Down's baby. Once again we were sent to new medical experts. A high intensity ultrasound was given and the "experts" said they were still concerned. They insisted that we get an amniocentesis. With that procedure there was a 1 in 200 chance of loosing the baby. Upon further questioning, we found out that the only reason for the amniocentesis was to make a definite conclusion so that we could kill the baby if it tested positive for Down's. We refused. The "experts" sent in their "A" team to convince us otherwise. They were furious and told us that we didn't know what we were getting into. By that time our resolve was even stronger and resolute.

In the end our prayers were answered again. We defied the "experts" once again and our daugher was born healthy, happy, and without Down's syndrome.

With less than 1% chance of ever having children, we had a 1 in a hundred chance when we had our daughter. When our son was born that one in a hundred turned into 1 in 10,000 chance of ever having 2 children. When our third baby is born this coming February, we will have crossed the 1 in 1,000,000 chance of ever having three children.

Our prayers have been answered time and time again. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Amen, Philip!

We were talked into having an amniocentesis when my wife was pregnant and I do not recall the risk of losing the child as being very high. We were also lead to believe that they could learn of problems that could be operated on while our son was still in the womb. None of these factors came into play, but we did learn with certainty the sex of our baby and he was named five or six months before he was born. Everybody knew Linda was carrying Michael.

Congrats on proving the experts wrong! Smile

I told my wife I was not going to vote this November. Neither interests me at all. Both bored me to death with their speeches.
Now, I want to be the first in line on the poll booth.

One of my friends emailed this to me and I know that both parties have their own choice but I would like for some people to read it as this will be my last post here.

Here's a message from my Alaskian guide/bush pilot who knows a thing or two about Sarah Palin. It's well worth reading.

Subject: Sarah Palin

Okay, Butch, who is this woman, what has she done for Alaska , and what do you think of her? You're about the only one I know who can offer the straight scoop on her. I was hoping for Romney, and was surprised by McCain's selection, largely because I don't know anything about Sarah Palin. What are your thoughts, oh wise one?

Subject: RE: Sarah Palin

Hey Rudy:

Sarah “Barracuda” Palin is a straight shooting, hard charging, get it done gal. She knows when to listen, how to analyze the facts and how to make a decision, then implement the plan. She doesn’t do a poll before jumping in with both feet like too many of the Washington types. She has little legislative experience because she has always held the EXECUTIVE position; in private life, as mayor of Anchorage ’s largest bedroom community or more recently as Governor of our State. She is a smart, attractive home grown Alaska girl with excellent moral and family values. She can see what needs to be done and does not hesitate to get it done.

One of our State’s major problems is that its Capital is in Juneau, 500 miles from the nearest road and 800 air miles from the population base which is Anchorage, Wasilla and Fairbanks. Our legislature and most of the State government is in Juneau and they ALL behave like a bunch of freshmen in a college town. It has been this way since Statehood in 1959. When Sarah moved to Juneau , so did accountability and responsibility When the oil revenue started flown and a barrel of North Slope Crude hit $23.00, these people began spending money like drunken sailors. You can only imagine what was happenings when oil hit $100.00 a barrel, about the time Sarah took command. My wife Kathy has first-hand experience with this fiasco, as her father and also her ex-husband were Alaska Legislators who served in Juneau as Senators, Senate President, or members of the State House for a combined period spanning nearly three decades.

About the time Sarah took the HELM as Governor of Alaska, about half of the State legislature was in the pocket of big oil companies or contractors doing big projects for Native Corporations around Alaska, all funded by State oil revenue. Alaska government was nothing but a good old boys club riding the perpetual wave of prosperity. This filtered down from the legislature, through the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Labor and even spilled in to the Public Safety who are supposed to “preserve and protect”.

When Sarah walked into the Governor’s Mansion, she promptly dismissed the State Trooper detachment assigned to Governor and had her and her husband’s gun case brought in from Wasilla. Then, she got rid of the former Governor’s STATE Jet and told legislators that there were no more free rides, they would have to fly Alaska Airlines, just like her and her family if they wanted to travel. Next came the nut cutting (the Barracuda part) the heads that rolled were too numerous to name, but when Sarah finished cleaning house, a number of our legislators ended up in jail for on corruption charges, or tendered their resignations along with numerous department heads and those who have been riding the gravy train for way too long, AND THEN SHE HAD LUNCH. By the end of the day, Sarah Palin had saved the people of Alaska millions and has not yet slowed down.

She has truly brought CHANGE to Juneau . I personally know several persons in the private sector in Alaska , that hold her in high esteem. She surrounds herself with smart people, many from my hometown of Anchorage , she listens to them but makes her own decisions. Sarah Palin is a no B.S. politician. It is refreshing that there is such a thing anymore. You want to talk about CHANGE? You should see a before and after picture of the State government in Alaska . That’s CHANGE! Sarah will bring a number of things to the election. I am sure she will appeal many voters who my otherwise could have gone the other direction on election day. The conservative block will not be for Barack. We have their vote. We need what Sarah will bring, first to the election and second, what she will bring to Washington D.C. McCain has been advised well, Let’s just hope the American people can get the straight scoop on her in the weeks ahead. This is just the opinion of one Alaska Bush Pilot and Guide, who pays attention to national politics, watches the news and is deathly afraid of the direction our nation is headed. I guarantee that if Sarah gets a chance to dig her spurs into the flanks of the liberal Washington types, they will know that she is in the saddle.

I, like some of you was not impressed with John McCain. I had planned on voting for the lesser of the two evils BUT.. the letter from the folks in Alaska who know Gov. Palin has really inspired me! After all, The thing most Americans want is to throw the entire bunch of politicians out of Washington and start fresh! Gov. Palin, seems to be just the ticket to get that done. I recieved an email from someone that said: Poor people have been voting for Democrats for the last 75 years and they are still Poor! The republicans are no better, They went into office promising conservative spending and have outdone themselves as far as Pork spending is concerned. Lets hope that Gov. Palin gets her chance to take on the "good ole Boys" in both parties and give them a good Whuppin!

Some say the choice is not really between Barack Obama and John MacCain but between Biden and Palin.

Barack Obama if elected, would likely be assasinated. There are many die-hard people who are dedicating their life to assasinate him in case he gets elected. There have been real people incarcerated for such plans and surely there are others not yet caught and are more careful. That would make Biden the president.

On the other hand, John McCain could die soon of natural causes associated with old age. He could die of stroke or heart attack. So that would make Palin the first female president of the U.S.A.

So take your pick... Biden or Palin.

Joe, if Obama is knocked off, then you can get ready for the "race war" of the century. I think that may occur even if he looses the election... especially if it comes down to a close call such as happened in Florida last time. I think the LA riots would be a Sunday School pic nic compared to what will happen if Obama is killed! Better get your NRA membership dues paid up! LOL

I also vote for "the lesser of the 2 evils" LOL, but this time I wasn't going to vote untill I heard Sarah's speaches. I don't care for either candidate, but as was said above, look at the vice president candidates.
Don't believe the stupid emails about the candidates. I got one that said Palin wanted to ban a whole bunch of good reading books from a library-- looked it up on snopes & it's not true. That is also not her posing in a US flag bikini holding a rifle. Pic of her head was put on that pic.
I hate that crap!!! Twisted Evil
