Got a nice gable quote working and can't decide on the glazing. Clear 8 mm polycarb for sure, 80% light transmission on the walls, but it's been recommended that in order to cool down a naturally ventilated greenhouse I should go with a diffused type material like Lexan Softlite of Polygal's polymatte or Polycoolite on the roof. Worried about light values. I can't find PAR values for Softlite or Polymatte. The Polycoolite which cuts IR and green spectrum is usually recommended for retail centers like Lowes. It has good PAR values but light transmission is only 50%.

Am going to grow avocados, tomatoes, citrus and other subtropicals in central Texas. I have made calls until I'm blue in the face. Anyone know anyone that has glazed with these "softer" materials and grown high light subtropicals such as avocados and gotten good fruit production?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark with my greenhouse (70L X 32W X12H) I decided to go with a different approach. I have twin wall polycarbonate on the sides and end, but went with double layers of air inflated 6-mil Teflon coated polyfilm on the roof. The double air inflated film gives the highest R-rating for heat retention, plus offers diffused light. The double air inflated poly, helps with the heat bills during the cold Colorado winters. I grow many tropicals and sub-tropicals. Citrus varieties (50+), pineapples, tomatoes, pomegranates, palms, French wine grapes, bananas, hot peppers, orchids, cut flowers, cactus, on and on. - Millet (648-)

Nice! I can't go with poly. So, I'm trying to find some solution with PC.
