I have a fairly young Chandler pummelo tree that I allowed just 6 fruit to remain. But, needless to say, that is going to make an already large fruit end up the size of a basketball Sad Right now, they're about the size of a cantaloupe and about as heavy. I need some suggestions on how to support the branches or the fruit, and I need to get them supported this weekend, or I'm going to end up with broken/torn branches. If you can give me VERY specific directions, I can construct something. I'm left-handed and dyslexic, but I follow detailed directions very well, lol!! I have a stake up, and was considering trying to sling the fruit somehow to the stake, but honestly, the fruit is so bloody heavy, I think it could pull the stake over. Open to suggestions!

For bunches of heavy fruit that are low to the ground, I commonly just set a 5-gallon bucket under the fruit for them to set on. Also, I have used the same aluminum label tags that I see in your picture. However, it does not take long for the sun to fade out the ink. For young container plants, until I find a supplier that sells quality/durable tags, I just cut up old venetian blinds and write the plants name on them. For older trees I use a nail to inscribe the tree's name into a piece of aluminum flashing, and attach it to the tree. They are not the most classical looking but they last forever. - Millet 93

Well, I do have a tall Lowe's 5 gal bucket. I can see if it is tall enough. I think the fruit might be just a wee bit too tall to use a bucket, but gosh, that would be the easiest option for sure. If not, I guess I'll get a couple of 4' rebar lengths, hammer them into the ground, then maybe use pantyhose or a veggie net as a sling??
