Hi all,

Hope everyone had a Happy Christmas.

I received a fruiting Calamondino tree about 18" high as a present.

Am after advice on the fruits, they are about 1" in size, will they get any bigger and when can I pick them?

Also how do I take cuttings from this? have only ever grown trees from pips before so please treat me like a novice on this.

Richard

Hello Richard... Very Happy

Merry Christmas to you. I have a Calamondin orange
tree that's three feet tall and two feet wide. Last Summer
I took cuttings, I used Rooting powder, first I put soil in
a small pot, wet it through, then I put hormone powder
on the cuttings...AFter several months out of the six
cuttings , one survived. My niece sent me for Christmas
a beautiful variegated Calamondin orange, it's about 10"
tall. I've decided I'd rather buy anothr one when I get a
chance than go through all that. I say leave your beautiful
tree alone, let it grow. Once a month I feed mine nitrogen
they love it and starting in the Spring once every few weeks
I feed it a fertilizer #6 it helps it produce flowers. Give the
tree plenty of sun..... Here's photo of mine.. Fruits get no
bigger than a quarter, but the plant always flowers on and
off all year long...

Cheers..Joe

Will definitely take your advice there then Joe.

Thanks, will let it grow.

Will the fruits produce pips, I've not picked any of them yet.

Richard

Richard... Very Happy

Yes, the fruits produce pits. Make sure
the fruits are very ripe, then pick, wash off
and plant in potted soil, it take a few weeks.
I tried it with six seeds , one survived. Happy
New Year..

Cheers...Joe.. Very Happy

Joe,

Thanks again for that, I will wait as long as I can with the fruits then, it's pretty cold here right now.. I hope I can get them through somewhere towards the spring then.

Richard
