I just got a grafted Ponderosa Lemon in the 4X4 citrus pot. I would like to grow it in a container in my patio in Miami where it would get 5 hours of full sun. What size pot? Type of pot? Soil mixture? Would if grow and fruit in Miami?
Thanks for any advide. Citrus in not my forté.

Yes you can. I would start with a 5 gal container. I have had the best luck with the Miracle-gro garden soil with my container trees.

Ok Thanks. I think I will add 10% of perlite and 10% small pine bark. I'm concerned about our wet summers, the addition may provide more drainage. Last summer we had 100 inches of rain and lost a lot of potted trees to root rot.
Would Pine Bark have an adverse effect on citrus?

No adverse reaction.

I think we had just as much rain if not more. This product drains very well.

i have been using Fafard 52 mix. I dont know how well it stacks up against the other "out of the bag" soils but so far I works well for me. On my bigger containers I will add coarse perlite to it in a ratio of 5 parts fafard and 1 part perlite. Mostly to add a bit more drainage but also helps keep the weight down since I have to move all mine in the winter.
