The Kimbrough satsuma was named after Dr. Kimbrough at LSU.
The seedling tree was growing at Port Sulphur Louisiana during the severe freeze of 1962. The seedling survived the freeze, on its own roots. After being propagated on other understocks it was no more cold tolerant than Owari. This came from the late Dr. Ralph brown who was supertindant of the LSU station for if I remember correctly for 37 years.
