If you can access this link, bookmark it. One of the tours is at Gene Lester's citrus collection. Exact date is unknown at this point, so check the link from time to time.

"The Festival of Fruit - 2006, will be hosted by the Central Coast Chapter of CRFG. We will conduct tours for the first three days ( September 5,6, and 7) and more tours in the morning of Friday, September 8. The Festival of Fruit General Session will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday and continue until 5 p.m. Saturday evening, September 9th. We have a fantastic and creative committee working on the Festival and hope YOU will make plans to be in San Luis Obispo in September. More details will follow. Keep an eye on the CRFG Website and read the Fruit Gardener for updates."

Gene Lester's citrus tour is not listed in this Fruit Festival. Watsonville is 2 hours away from San Luis Obispo, so I think it is not included.

Well, there is always next spring which is actually better for citrus tour when you want some budwoods.

Here's the response of Bill Grimes:
"You need to check with Chuck Rust of the Monterey Bay Chapter to see when their next tour/tasting is scheduled. Watsonville is several hours away from SLO so I doubt that the Central Coast Chapter would schedule it.

Bill Grimes"

Joe, I am a long time CRFG member. However, living in Colorado, about the only benefit I get from the CRFG is their publication the "Fruit Gardner", which I read from cover to cover. I was really VERY surprized to see a CRFG message board. I never knew it existed. CRFG's president, Bill Grimes, should make this type of information known to all the membership, especially us non California and Arizona members. How active is the board, and can any CRFG member join? Live and learn. Concerning Gene Lesters fall and spring tour. The spring tour is better for budwood, the fall tour is better for tasting. Let us know the fall tour dates of Gene grove. - Millet

Millet,

I think the CRFG forum is open to all. Pretty much dead in the water. I try to keep it alive by answering most of the questions, but not much people look it up. You can be a member there.

Regards,

Joe
