Hey everyone!

After shocking my tree by bringing it inside, all of the leaves fell off. It has begun sprouting new leaves all over, and is looking great again.

Now that it is bare, I can actually see the bark of the tree. The first things I noticed were these small, oval shaped, dots of white mold....about 2 or 3. I wiped them of with a wet paper tower, and cleaned the bark. Then, I found about 10 scales on the tree. I wiped them off too....kinda sqiushy. They werent active, and I couldnt tell if they were dead or they just move slowly. I have never encountered them before.

Im guessing that the white moldy dots were decomposed scales. From what I have researched in here, it seems the best way to get them off is by washing the tree. Is it the scales that are leaving a honeydewish-sappy substance on the branches?

What brings them out on a tree? Are they in the soil? What steps do I need to take to rid them from my baby? I cannot wash the tree in the shower, because the new growth is too tender and fragile. However, the tree is bretty bare now, and sems like the best time for me to remove these scales.

any info will be greatly appreciated!

ciao,
Anton
