1. The first plant is identified by the label as KEY LIME (limequat). Knowing Key lime is one of the limequat's parents I give limequat more importance even though it is in parentheses. Next I assume the plant is one of three commercially available cultivars: Eustis, Lakeland, or Tavares. Fruits present on some of the plants were more round than oval which disqualifies Tavares. There are 1/4-3/8" thorns on the stems which then leads me to believe it is Eustis and not Lakeland. Is this sound logic?

2. The second plant is identified by the label as MEYER LEMON. Is it safe to assume it's actually an Improved Meyer as I believe the old Meyer is no longer on the market because of viral problems.

Junglekeeper, actually all three limequats (Eustis, Lakeland, Travares) can have oval shaped fruit. However of the three, Eustis usually produces fruit having the most round shape. I find Lakeland Limequats to be "nearly" spineless trees. Lastly, Eustis's fruit are smaller than the Lakeland Limequat, very closely resembling that of the ordinary Key lime in size. Any Meyer Lemon you would purchase now would certainly be the Improved Meyer Lemon type. "Improved" meaning that it is virus free. - Millet

Thanks, Millet. Using the inspection certification number I managed to figure out which grower these plants came from. I'll e-mail them to confirm and to ask some other questions.

Do limequats have any special cultural requirements?

When you find out from the grower, please post the answer on the forum. I have a Lakeland, and a Eustis Limequat, and I find them very easy to grow. Same culture requirements as Key Lime, keep warm and they should produce very well for you. Take Care - Millet

My guesses have been confirmed by the grower - Eustis and Improved Meyer.
