I have a dragon lime planted over on the farm that has a fair crop of fruit this year. Ive had visitors to my place on a pretty regular basis for the past few weeks now that the citrus is ripening. I have offered a sample of the fruit from the dragon lime ( which I find to be terrible) to my guest and the last 3 couples have LOVED it! I even had one husband and wife team that actually wanted to buy some of the fruit! The flesh is a beautiful lime green but the taste to me is pretty much that of Flying dragon... Evidently, I need to rethink the dragon lime??? I cant remember where I got my start for this tree.. could have been B.C. or Mr Texas... Does anyone else here own one of these?

Stan, no matter how bad tasting, how bland, how ugly, how big or how small an object might be, there will always be someone who thinks it is the best of all. - Millet (561-)

Millet, I think you are right! Every human is created with different taste, likes and dislikes and no two peoplehave the exact same taste! I have a waiting list of folks wanting the dragon limes so I got busy back in the early spring and grafted several of them. If they love them, then who am I to argue! Laughing I will try and get some pictures of the tree on here before too long.

The tree looks like a flying dragon tree on steroids, longer and more curved thorns and more contorted. The fruit is a little bigger than FD fruit without all the seeds.

I topworked mine a long time again and then hurricane Rita lopped off the graft and then the tree promptly died.

I used to think the dragon lime was something unique, but not anymore. Over the last 5 years of growing FD rootstock I've occasionally grown obvious hybrids that look like the dragon lime. I have one now waiting to be budded in the fall. I've also had at least one of the stunted hybrids with the tiny leaves.
