The proper time to fertilize is year around if your Calamondin is growing in a sunny warm location. NPK fertilizer w/trace minerals. Try to locate a fertilizer as close to a 5-1-3 ratio that you can. Peters Company sells the exact blend. - Millet

I've been using Miracid..."Miracle Grow for Acid Plants" with success. Not sure if it is optimal but seems to do the job.

Miracid seems to be 3-1-1 so not exactly right. I'll probably get something different when I run out.

3-1-1 ratio is quite low on potassium, but is more or less OK. Citrus are not all that finicky about the fertilizer that they are given, especially citrus trees planted outside in the ground. Container trees are more demanding. If you desire to apply a fertilizer that supplies nutrition at the same ratio that the tree's roots absorbs nutrition from the medium, than 5-1-3 is the optimum ratio. However, being ABSOLUTELY SURE that the tree is planted in a FAST draining medium, with a high level of air porosity is of importance #1. During the winter while the tree is indoors, keeping the correct balance between the temperature of the foliage and the temperature of the root zone is #2 in importance. The best of luck to your tree. Take care. - Millet
