My large stump grew back and I picked a couple fruit. I had chopped it down a couple years ago when the large tree didn't produce much fruit. Tasted OK but not as good as a real cherry. I promptly planted the seeds.
Is this the acerola cherry? I've been looking for seeds of the sweet tasting acerola cherry for ages, it varies from very sour to sweet. Vitamin C used to be made from these cherries, they are packed with it.

Thanks for the picture Mr Texas. I have a 5ft tall tree I've had for about 6 or 7 years that has yet to bloom for me. I keep telling myself maybe next year...
Acerola cherry is a different tree altogether. I've got an unamed variety that produces a lot of fruit and gets some sweet to it when properly ripened but also have the 'Florida Sweet' variety which is sweeter. Somehow I have never been able to sprout any seeds for some reason.
