Looks like this forum is dying a slow death. The sites owner has not been on in over a month, plus a large number of the membership have not posted in quite some time. Worse yet, all of the potential new members, that every day try to join this forum, have for over a month not been screened or approved for membership, therefore they have not been able to log on and are thus sadly lost. Dosen't look good for the future. - Millet

This is indeed sad news. Although, I don't think I'd write off the forum yet. There still seems to be a good number of people that post here.

Have you (or anyone else) heard from Laaz lately? I hope he and his family are OK.

I had been thinking this for a while but didn't want to say anything. I think the quarantines of citrus and HLB have discouraged many. I still check the forum daily, I guess I am still edicted.

And this forum software stinks.

I really hope someone will take the ball and create a replacement forum on a better platform. A simple new forum. No migration of historical posts necessary (though would be nice). This forum can remain for a while for archive purposes.

If nothing else, migrating to a sub-forum within the 'Tropical Fruit Forum' would be a good option. It uses good software, and the moderator is reasonable most of the time. http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php

It is normal for citrus growers in Europe, except parts in zone 9 or 10, that there is not too much to say during this part of the year. I guess, that frequency of the posts from european members will be increasing each day from now, since sun is shining more and more rk01_sole_02

I think it is typical for such a specialized forum, when it starts there is plenty to write about, everthing is new, but due to the long generation cycles in citrus, there is a long time until really new thing happen...
I like this forum a lot and check it quite often, but until I can write something new, also new to you the "old menbers" it will take a time.
when you start the most posts are about "I need... or Who can give me..." Smile
This is the point where I am....Smile But I hope it will change in near future!
Maybe there is a need for a new breeding program, a coordinated one, with exchange of pollen, seeds and so on... to higher the chance of finding something new.
This is what I would like to do for Poncirus.
But anyway this is a great forum and as far as I know there are only a few others on the internet...

I don't post as much as I did when I joined, I suspect many people are the same.

But this is my usual habit in all my interests. Once I've gained enough knowledge about something and discussed it thoroughly, I just see no reason to rehash things or wallow in it. I just do it.

I do check in on a regular basis to see if there is anything interesting being discussed here though.

I have learned a lot through this forum and appreaciate it very much. And I have also come into contact with people I would have never met. So it is still a great forum for me which I check several times per week.
Since the information here is so great there are only very few questions left open for me. And that is why I do not post so much. But when I get news from my breeding attempts then I will of cause let you know. I would pity it very much when the information in this forum got lost and a totally new one were created. What I like here is not only the broadness of information but also that some special interests have a place here.

The Texas rare fruit growers has moved to Facebook. Much easier to post pictures.

Don't give it up just yet... the forum may be going through a dip, but sooner or later activity will return! Let's just hope Laaz will return also! Wink

Well said Sylvain and Marc!
It is Spring time and we can all focus on our grafting, pruning, repotting and fertilizing chores.
Meanwhile, Laaz can have his sabbatical. I have hope all will be back to normal in the summer.
On the optimistic side, the forum seems to be working better lately.

The main problem facing this forum is that without Laaz we are unable to accept any new members. Only Laaz has the authority to authorize forum membership when a person applies. So far over the last month or so we have had 20 to 26 people apply for membership to this forum, but without Laaz none could be approved and were therefore lost. New Members are the life blood of any forum. Without continual new members a forum cannot long survive.
