Ive recently been messing around with the plant growth regulators i bought for micropropagation, i have been haing some good results with them
ive started to wonder, Do all/most of the commercial nurseries producing things such as ornamental citrus use these hormones?
When ive taken cuttings of any citrus i find they root ok, then they gain a bit of new growth , slowly, a branch here and there , never branched to the level a commercial one is, they form open branched plants that dont need lots of branches trimming to open the center of the plant
Every very small calamondin i see in some shops are identical, a 1/4 inch wide stem 1 inch out of the pot, mabe 10 or more very closely packed branches coming out, every bud is branched, many times from each node, the head of the plant may be 6 inch in diamiter and again many many branches tightly packed , and the plant does not seem to have been pruned at all to make it branch, all branches look very new growth and are generaly flowring all over
I have never had results like this using normal methods, i get 2 or 3 branches from any cutting, i have to trim th ends to make more branches from the main branch frame
3 weeks ago i got the various plant growth regulators, i have sprayed a few plants and cuttings and they now are growing like the commercial mini plants, hundreds of mini branches, about 3 from each bud on the stem, the new growth is instanly branching and forming a full mini tree framework
As well as the citrus i sprayed a few 2yr old apple trees, every bud on the branches has sprouted a new branch
this photo is 3 days from spraying my variegated lemon cutting with a mix of plant regulators
Everyone/most people and nurseries use rooting powders for plants to form roots , is it nornal for nurseries to use the growth regulators to ensure many well branched trees/plants , rapidly ??
