I am still here my friends. Just been very busy. All my rootstock started slipping at the end of March (Troyer and Carrizo) and I grafted it all. It is on the way now and I can deliver it when the time is right. I do not use Troyer or Carrizo or Swingle but some of my folks that I graft for do. I use strickty Poncirus Trif Standard and Flying Dragon. The Standard PTrif started slipping a week ago and is slick and I have been grafting all I can each day. Budding for some other folks also and theirs is ready and working them in. My FDragon is just starting to get slick and ready...it will be about 4 more days before its gonna slip like wet clay. Got persimmons grafted and pears and paw paw done ....all except for the stock that was too small. Have all the figs from LSU seperated and in new pots...they are ready. Have a lot of the LSU pomegranits going from cuttings...repotted and on their own. Have tons of seed that is growing and thriving and will need seperating soon. Planted my own Callery pear seed and it came out fine. Did a new thing this year....planted quince seed from a two big yellow quince that I found growing in Wiggins Mississippi. Kept them in the frig for about 2 months and every one of those seed is up and growing. ....will have to seperate them soon.

It has become a hard thing to secure any budwood for any of the semi scarce varieties....I can not pay a hundred dollars for a stick of budwood with 4 usable buds on it. I have budwood from my own trees but wanted to try some of the newer stuff but alas can not get the budwood. Will be glad when things reach a peak and settle out.

A friend had a visit from the USDA and they confiscated all her trees even though she got a clean bill of health on them. She had two trees from a state that was on the quarantine list and they took and destroyed all her stock. They even chased down the buyers of trees she had sold and confiscated those trees............not a good thing money wise for my friend...but.....even though she did not know that that state was on the quarantine list .....she should have.....and the person in that state that sold her the tree should have known they were on the quarnting list.......after all we are all responsible for seeing that ACP and greening is kept for spreading and we need to do what we can to help.

I speak with several members in the forum by phone each week and all appears to be well. No hurricanes this year I pray....................I am recovering and dont need any more of them. Good to bend your ears folks. David

David, you should be able to get citrus budwood from UCR CCPP. Mr Texas has ordered budwoods from California's CCPP before. The UCR CCPP program have phyto sanitary certificates and the facilites are monitored and the outbound budwoods are inspected by the USDA and the CDFA. But you have to check with your state's Dept of Agriculture about such orders. Some of the citruses in UCR's collections came from Louisiana and the CCPP sells to out-of-state propagators providing they have appropriate import permits. If you got them from the budwood program of CCPP, you can follow-up to certify your tree as a foundation rootstock for you to register locally and propagate from. One of the requirements of foundation tree is that it should come from USDA certified propagators such as that of CCPP. You may have an equivalent program in your state.
