CITRUS Kaipara Lemon PB5 50cm
This heirloom variety [also known as Maori lemon] has juicy, knobbly lemons that can be eaten skin and all. They are cutting - grown plants and will bear fruit after 2 - 3 years.
Our Price : 12.00 NZD

Sorry for hogging this forum a bit however this item on a New Zealand nursery website compelled me to order two by email. . I have googled the item but nothing has come up beyond the original website which actually increased my interest.
I presume they are some type of Meyer but then again I am a bit green as far as citrus knowledge goes.
So I thought I would ask.... Any thoughts?..
BTW there were no "fruit" trees of any sort until introduced after the Europeans arrived.
The Kaipara Harbour where the nursery is is a large rural bay with a small population of mainly local folks.

Never heard of it by either name. How about garden or rarefruit groups in NZ. If you can track down a photo of fruit and foliage, it may be possible to work out what it is, or seems closely related to.

I wondered if it might be Citrus × jambhiri Rough Lemon. I guess until I actually get some fruit I won't know.
As long as it's edible it will still come in handy.

Rough Lemon does seem highly possible. It's naturalized in many areas of Australia's east coast, and Lord Howe Island, so could have arrived in NZ at a similar time ? Most of the wild plants are very similar, though it is possible to get various fruit sizes/textures. It shouldn't be hard to ID or eliminate Rough Lemon from leaves alone. Fruit and seeds would make it easier.
