Can anyone tell me if Seville Oranges can be grown from seed, the best way to start them if possible and will they survive in Upstate SC (Zone 7).

Thanks,
MJ

Yes they can be grown from seed. As far as "will they survive upstate SC", that depends on how cold you get. Anything below the low 20's for any duration they probably won't survive...

I have one planted in a sheltered spot of my garden in Southern Switzerland since more than 5 years. With passive protection, i.e. no heating, it survived -12°C (10F) with loss of foliage and some branch dieback. Normal winters with -7°C (19F) don't do any harm with passive protection.

It's been cold here 19 this morning, but will be about 40F this afternoon. I will attempt to grow them in pots until they are too big to keep moving. We don't get any constant cold weather here where it freezes and stays frozen, and like the rest of the US, this year, we are getting nipped by the jet stream dipping south.

I realized I posted this in the wrong zone (8 & above) so I apologize for the wrong location but appreciate the feedback.

If anyone knows an easy way to propogate seeds, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
MJ
