Does anyone have or know of a source for the Corrugated Thomson Navel orange. UCR is the only place I have found that lists it.

I have been looking and have not yet found a source for these wonderful looking oranges. I can only imagine how they taste. I have not even been able to find info on the type or orange itself. Anyways, I will keep looking. _________________ Disneygirl |

I agree, it looks cool. Let me know, too, if you can find a source. Or post it here. _________________ He who laughs last, thinks slowest. |

I live less then a mile from UCR. I drive by the citrus station everyday. Maybe i can do a commando raid and gather "samples" of this orange . LOL!!! just kidding. I do not want a bunch of students jumping me and beating me for a bumpy citrus. _________________ |

I was hoping to get some (I planned to share with you!), but today I was told the following by UCR:
Quote: | No clean budwood exists. Also, the mutation is very unstable and
reverts to conventional Thompson navel very frequently. |

When Citrus Joe and I visited UCR CCPP, we seen their Thomson Navel trees. They have two Corrugated trees at the UCR site . The Corrugation was nowhere as defined as the picture that Laaz has posted here. Some of the fruit had fairly good corrugation while many others on the same tree look more like a Washington Navel with wind scaring. We tasted the fruit, which more or less tasted like any other Navel Orange. After seeing the tree I did not bother to save any of the seeds. - Millet |
