Are there more than one variety of the calamondin? everything I've read just states calamondin, not any varying types. Justcurious as I'll be purchasing mine in 3 weeks.

In the Philippines, we have various kinds. I like the one which are generally thornless and have big fruits. Calamondins here rarely get to the size to the one that I knew. I just hope that the Calamondin seed that germinated and have given away to Benny would change that in the future.

There are only two types in the US, one is variegated and the other one is regular with small sized fruits.

is there a taste differencebetween the regular and verregated? I'm able to get both.

I know the verregated just looks a lot cooler, soif taste is the same, I'd go that direction.

Joe:
The "Cal from Bicol" you gave me I still have it and still growing. I almost forgot about it because it is not flowering yet. It is over a foot now but I accidentally cut the tallest branch when I was moving it.
Is that aspecial kind?
The other cal the 5 feet tall you gave me is just amazing- over 10 feet tall and giving me very large fruit right now. Lots of it. I love it.
The one that I am fond of is the trifoliate you gave me. Originally it had 3 branches. In one branch I grafted a calamondin that I got from my sister. It is now over 2 feet a lots of flowers.
The other 2 branch of trifoliate I just keep it on cutting so it won't take over but lately I just grafted a kishu mandarin and willlowleaf mandarin on each that we got from the scion exchange. They appear to be taking in since the branches are still green.

The Cal from Bicol should have bigger fruits and fewer seeds. But it will take a bigger mature tree to produce bigger fruits.
