Sudachi hybrid is very cold hardy Japanese type of "lemon". I have bud grafted several on top of my Meyer lemons to protect my Meyer from severe frosts while at the same time provide me with another unique variety and flavor of sour citrus. I often place several buds to have several branches sprout in the the directions I want. Somehow, most of them sprout as planned. Notice that they spread in all directions to form bigger canopy, this is something that will never happen if you are a firm believer in using only one bud per branch.

The sudachi's fruits would be great for making sudachi sauce, perhaps within a year, they will bloom.

Hi Joe. I take it all of your grafts are standard T-bud grafts ? I may have to give this a shot, it would be very interesting to do a Satsuma tree with 10-12 different varieties... Idea

That's right Laaz. I actually have a Mandarin tree with Owari, Ponkan, Shasta Gold, Yosemite Gold, Miho Wase, Page and Murcott. They are still too small grafts, you know, mandarins, especially on a satsuma base, grow very slow. Perhaps next year, I will have a bloom from each of the grafts and post them here.
