I'm making jelly today. These taste like choke cherry to me, on the astringent side. Very colorful though, red with gold speckles. This plant is also used for residential flower beds only it is the variety that doesn't have fruit.

Taste is apple like, color and odd red, consistency like apple butter. There is a hing of astringency. I don't know whether I'll make it again!

I think I'll love that. Most wine afficionados love some astringency. I hope I can taste one of those!
