I have a polyembrionic avocado seedling growing and it is about 2ft. high right now. It was gifted to me as a dying sapling, and was said to be from an organic hass seed. When I replanted it i noticed it was indeed polyembrionic. I have heard that polyembrionic citrus and mangoes are true to form, but would the same apply to avocadoes? Anyone know for sure? Thanks, Jack.

I don't believe avocado seeds are ever truly polyembryonic, in the sense that some of the seedlings will be clonal duplicates of the female parent. There is just one embryo, and it is zygotic (hybrid). Very often, though, that embryo will produce several sprouts when the seed germinates, so it LOOKs polyembryonic.

I also have not encountered any polyembronic avocado seeds or seedlings. But am keeping my mind open.

Several sprouts from one seed is probably what I have then. I didn't get it until it was already sprouted and rotting in a poorly drained pot. When I repotted it, both sprouts were clearly from the same seed. I guess thats what fooled me. Thanks, Jack.
