Hello!

Do you know if Poncirus trifoliata x Citrus medica crosses exist? I have found nothing about that in the internet, do not even know how they would be called.
I can imagine that they would be interesting plants with relatively edible peel and quite hardy. Hardy, because Poncirus X C. limon and Poncirus X C. maxima, in short Poncirus X tender citrus, can be hardy.
At any rate, I am curious what such plants would be like.

Greetings,

Till

Since we already have citrange, citrumelo, citremon etc. the poncirus x citron cross should be called citritron I guess... Wink

Citrus medica is the most cold sensitive citrus, so there is no sense to try this cross.

Hi Radoslav, that is true I know. But Poncirus X Citrus maxima is also quite hardy. It could be that the hardiness genes of Poncirus dominate in such a cross just because Citrus medica has no annual rhythm of its own.

No hits for "citritron" on Google. An indication more that the plant does not exist.

You might yield a hardier Buddha's Hand, which would have value as an ornamental.
