Right now the only cold hardy citrus I have is a nagami kumquat. At HD today they had calamondins and yuzu lemons. How hardy are these two citrus? What can the fruit be used for? Bearing times? What are some other cold hardy citrus? _________________ 1 cara cara navel orange, 1 nagami kumquat |

Yuzu is the hardier of the two and mine are ripening up now. Yuzu can be used as a lemon in the kitchen and is also used for the zest. Cals are great squeezed on steaks & burgers. _________________ Wal-Mart a great place to buy cheap plastic crap ! http://walmartwatch.com/ ...

I'll give those a try too since it usually doesn't get into the teens here. _________________ 1 cara cara navel orange, 1 nagami kumquat |

Yuzu is very popular in Japan, where it use to cook. The price of this fruit can be expensive.
Yuzu can resist to -15°C, and restart from roots if it not graft.
In zone 8a I think you can test Citrus keraji, unshui, and all Poncirus hybrids. _________________ USDA Zone 7 |

17°F would be rated as 8b. Overhead frost protection is always advisable.
Cheers, Barrie. |

Actually, my sister's tree is under the canopy of a large pecan tree. Eventhough the pecan tree is bare in winter, I think the canopy helps a good deal. _________________ Skeet
