One of these days, I might use one of these, drive over to see Laaz in SC, and go catfishing on the same vehicle.

That''s when before the restrictions took into effect. Right now it's not even good to go fishing. The Fish and game restricted the number of catches of these species to 2 and rock cod to 10 and not more than 2 of the same species. And it seem like almost all of the bay now is off limits and became a sunctuary. You can not fish in less than 300 feet of water also.
They think that salmon is depleting so much per year and limit also the number of open season.
Very bad.

Tell ya what ya do Joe.. Save up to buy a Cobalt Boat.. Then come to town to watch your boat being built (they love giving tours of ppls boats being built..) I think they even treat you to nice dinner.. I've not bought a Cobalt so I'm not sure on that part.. But Hubby sees ppl touring watching their boat being built now and then.. any way.. Then you Take the boat to Elk City lake for Lake test (when it's not as dry as it is NOW) and catch the next record Cat fish.. "The largest flathead catfish (Pylodictis olivaris) ever caught was in Independence, Kansas, weighing in at 123 pounds 9 ounces (56 kg). " quote taken from Wikipedia..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catfish under heading "Size" towards bottom of the page..

If you are not wanting something SO BIG you can come to mom's.. She even said she would wheel the camp trailer out to the lower pond if ya HAD to feel like you were on a house boat.. LOL Wink
Here is photo of my brother with his first catch this spring.. couldn't find the pic of the one his daughter caught.. so big my brother couldn't get both his hands around it.. and he has some fairly large hands..

The one pictured is average for mom's ponds..

If you like hunting and toured out door gaming Paradise Adventures is about 15 min north of me..

Not much to hunt at mom's but deer or turkey... Maybe a tame goat or nag if ya get desperate.. LOL.. Bit of Wild persimmon to be hunted too!! hehehehehe

Ok.. Now that I got that out of my system.. Very Happy

Love the pics of your trip!!!!
Beautiful scenery!!! And If I ever make it there.. I know nothing about any cal oranges.. Wink

We have the best of both worlds here as we are right on the coast. You can go saltwater fishing in the morning & fresh water fishing in the evening.

Both Carolina Skiff & Key West boats are made here in Summerville, but I've never heard of any tours ? If you don't like going in the boat you can always fish from the pier...

Offshore ?

Fresh water ?

Gina, thanks! Those are nice sized catfish and can't believe you pull them out of a pond! There are many places to go when I'm over there. Would love to try fishing with citruholics over there!

Cobalt boats are popular over here. Naah, I just rent boats nowadays. I used to have one but the city won't allow me to park it on the street for more than 36 hours, and my neighbors won't allow me to park it on our driveway for more than 24 hours, they said it brings their property value down! But this is Davis, the city where you could get a noise ordinance violation ticket for snoring out loud.

Anytime you are around Sacramento or San Francisco and the Bay Area, just drop me a line. We have the room addition ready for citruholic visiting us. The season for most citrus fruits are from November to March. Calamondins and lemons, I always have them year round. I'm still working on varieties that could prolong my harvest season.

I have plenty of new fruit cultivars that I will be tasting the very first time and soon.
