Here's some fruit I picked for the local citrus show (2010 upper gulf coast citrus show). This is prior to sorting, cleaning, and labling for the show.

Wow, nobody in SE Texas got much citrus. I guess you are far enough south the 19F freeze here didn't damage your crop!

What are the longish looking yellow fruit?

The yellow fruit is Tavares Limequat.

In the freeze we went down to 22-24F. My production was kind of funny, some fruit-navel oranges, limequats, some mandarin's, had normal to better production. While others-satsumas, some kumquats, juice oranges, some mandarins, production was none to well below average. As in most places I have warmer and colder spots in my yard. But the lack of production, really did not follow the coldest spots in my yard or follow the cold tolerances of the citrus. In the end I would guess that overall production was down 30%.

I see you don't have the starlings I have that peck every single fruit when it is nickel sized if I don't cover with netting.

I have grackles here that peck the citrus fruits. Fortunately they usually do not penetrate the peel to pulp and the fruit is not ruined, but it makes the fruit look ugly.

Starlings are a pest. They are an introduced species that kills our native cavity dwellers. They are not protected in any state that I know of. They are especially deadly to the purple martin that are a benefit to all. If you are allowed they should be treated the same as cockroaches.
