I just got back from a camping trip to the Oregon coast very early this morning. I was surprised not to see any Palms - anywhere. (last year I did spot 3 fortunei's south of Newport. This year we did some day trips to the north and I did not see anything in the way of palms. Only the occasional yucca. We traveled up to Tillamook to see the very impressive cheese production plant and enjoy some very nice ice cream cones. (it was a really good rainy day trip with the kids (and the other family we camped with)). I was curious why the Oregonians haven't taken to the palm fever which is quite prevalent in British Columbia's Greater Vancouver area and S. Vancouver Island. Any ideas why there aren't any palms in Oregon? ...
