My hellebores has been eaten down to the ground by something. I've had it for at least 5 years with no problems. They are supposed to be deer resistant. Will rabbits or rats eat them? I've had rats recently in wood pile and put out rat poison. I put cage around stumps of my plant. Any other suggestions?

I have been told that no plant is completely deer proof. I've seen them eating magnolia leaves and pittosporum. I've also seen where they pulled up long leaf pine plantings, spit them out , took a few steps and pulled another right next to the other.......over and over. Deer are worse than goats. Tom
