Every summer when I go on holiday I set up an irrigation system so that my plants can have a daily double dose of water. Well, this summer (by the way, I got married in Philadelphia!) the main pipe detached from the wall more or less 2 days after I went away. The apartment was flooded and the water filtered in the college that is under our apartment - not big damages anyway.
My plants didn't have any water for 2 weeks, and with a daily temperature between 30°C and 35°C or more, they haven't had much fun. Literally, I found a cemetery when I came back.
Surprisingly my lemon had a couple of branches that were still green, and after a few waterings a new flush of growth appeared. I am so happy because I had that tree for 5 years or more, and I started it from seed - it is almost like a son for me Very Happy.
My two mandarins, that I grew from seed too, probably didn't make it through the heat of Bologna.

Congrats Ivan! I am having the opposite problem right now. I am having major fruit split from all the rain we have had.

Thanks Laaz!
Here in Bologna we only had a little rain the last week. Not a drop of rain all summer long! It is a bad moment for agriculture in general

Yes, most of the US is in a drought. Along the eastern coast however we have had too much rain.

Congratulations Ivan! Just from curiosity, why did you choose Philly? Very Happy I'm glad for your lemon tree, too. Since it has been fooled by a drought, you may want to try out Verdelli's method now. Hopefully you may get it to burst into bloom again for the next year's summer crop! Laughing

Thanks GT and thanks Igor!

Igor, I chose Philly simply beacuse my wife was born in that area. I have to say that the Pennsylvania landscape is really wonderful, a lot of woods and hills. We will consider to move there in the future.
About the Verdelli's method, well since my lemon never bloomed before I will see if the drought can really make miracles in forcing citruses to flower! I doubt anyway that I will see flowers on my lemon this year Wink
I am really sorry for my mandarin, I was sure I could see its first flowers next year since it was pretty tall, but it seems that it's passed to better life...

Do not give up !!!

Citrus recover from droughts often months later !!!

Then we you gave up completely, you suddenly see some sprouts from stem or even roots comming !!!
