I saw the post for Caldwell Nursery awesome fall sale prices, and I ordered a Meiwa and a Kaffir (and a Stevia herb). My babies will be here next week, the meiwa will be unpotted and burlaped.

Laaz thanks, I bookmarked the site. I would be afraid to order at this time of year, here in Colorado it gets down to at LEAST the lower 20's or below each and every night. I think the tree would freeze during delivery. I might order come spring. I never head of this nursery before. - Millet

Just ordered my CHCs too. Roberst Supply in Ohio. he was cute, he said some citrus people keep calling and ordering, I must be on some forum list! I said yes sir!

Just replanted some of my babies, really considering letting my Meyer lemon go, its getting really crappy looking, and ALL my other living trees (Jerry did kill 2 this summer by neglect) look JUST FINE. it is by far the most picky.

Babies and CHCs arrived today. Wow, a bale of CHCs really is big. Its almost as big in volume as I am. I guess everyone will be getting repotted soonly!

Ive actually made friends with the Kroger security cop, he tried to grow a lemon I think, but it was dying (i told him to get a humidifier). I promised to share CHCs with him

The Meiwa is gorgeous. Its about 3.5 feet, pinky finger thick trunk, standard shape. The Kaffir is healthy looking, multi branched.

The CHCs are soaking in a bucket of rainwater on the porch. its darn cold, and when I washed cocopeat in the bathtub it made a MESS. Ill make sure I bring them up to room temp before planting in them. Im going to go read how long they should soak for. I dont want to leave the trees wrapped for too long, but I dont want to pot them into poorly prepared substrate either.

Kelli, Keep rinsing those CHC's in clear water. When the water runs fairly clear, add some epsom salts to the soaking. I just read it somewhere (?)
Or, if you already potted, water using epsom salts - 1-2 TBLS per gallon.

The Mr. Mac satsuma was the best of 10 acres of citrus planted At Port Sulphur Lousisiana by Mr. Mceachern, father of Dr. george Ray McEachern, Texas A&M extension. Larry Stein, fruit and pecan specialist with the Texas A&M cooprative extension really likes the Mr. Mac satsuma. It was named after Dr. George Ray McEachern fater.

I noticed they had the Mr Mac and Owari satsumas at that nursery, but we have hot, humid everything in the summer. Ive read Satsumas prefer cool nights for the best flavor.

Im wondering what would be good for my climate and produce well. Im happy I got all mine through the winter with just a bit of leaf drop

I just tried a Minneola Tangelo for the first time yesterday, it was great. a bit messy, but tasty.

Kelli, Satsuma's do great in our hot humid climate. To be honest Satsuma's are my favorite citrus, few to no seeds & super sweet.

oh wow. I thought id read somewhere on this or the gardenweb forum differently. I honestly dont have room for more trees right now, so ill make do with what I have

weve got snow right now, but its been not too cold almost all winter, and its usually 90-100% humidity, 80-105 or so in the summer.

I was upset that my meyer is getting lousy looking, I flushed it with rainwater 2 weeks ago and its putting out new growth! now for CHCS!
Im using medium chcs with cocopeat, some osmacote. I water with cheap acid food with micros, with a big pinch of epsom salts. Ill probably water with worm-casting tea when theyre outside for the summer.
