I don't post very often, but the Expo was a hit because it was good to put faces w/ names. Laaz, Citrus Joe, Millet, Patty, Scott, Darren, I read your posts all the time. Thanks for the trades Darren & Charlie and it was good to meet Patty and the rest of you briefly. Next year you all may be in my neck of the woods for Expo 2006-Virginia Beach! How awesome to have a dedicated citrus forum!

Thank's for the pics and posting a link to this new board which I saw on the GardenWeb board. I'll be a lurker on this new board.

There are not enough citrus boards unlike there being far too many hardy palm boards. Sometimes the Garderweb citrus forum burns me because of the ban on commercial links but I sure enjoy talking about citrus.

I like talking about citrus on a post that will be around long enough for a few replies and not drop off to nonsensical posts. I'm tired of reading posts about weather, climate envy/zonal denile and the such. Posts of "It almost hit freezing last night..." are driving me nuts on the palm boards. lol

Hardcore citrus that's what I want !!!

Thank's again for the expo pics.

Hi Don Welcome to the forum. Your experience with cold hardy citrus is a great asset to this forum. Keep us posted on the hybrids your developing.

FINALLY got home after 1 am this morning. Got to Charleston airport at 10:30 am yest., & 2 planes 'broke down' in Philly so it was a looong day. But, I'm still smiling with good memories. Thank you Laaz for picking me up at airport Fri. morn & showing us a good time & taking me back to my hotel late Sat. night. Laaz was a great guide Fri & Sat. & also SCOOPED me up at 9 Sat morn when I just woke up 10 min. before! I crawled out of bed & only time to brush my teeth & then to expo with Joe & Millet! Hotel forgot my wake-up call. Rolling Eyes
I am sooo glad I went --Millet talked me into it. I too thought Joe & Millet would be 2 grey-haired guys--they thought I was younger. See why I'm smiling in those pics? You girls would smile too if you got to hang out with all these nice looking & fun guys! Laughing That southern hospitality was shining all wkend. Stan, you're the Man! It was an honor sitting next to you at dinner Fri. Very well organized expo---I learned a lot. Thanks Scott K for that huge pumello you handed me---it's on my kitchen table. You deserved that blue ribbon! Darrin, thanks for those gourd seeds. Laaz showed us your amazing garden & greenhouse & I saw those HUGE gourds. Loved those cactus!!
I bought 5 plants for total $30.00!! Me, Joe & Millet were like kids in a candy store!! The Black E. Ear leaves were all mangled from security going thru my bag, but I bet they cut themselves up good on my 27" Fly. Dragon & the finger lime. Surprised
Wish I had pics of Joe & Millet early Sat am when they took a ride towrds ocean to look for citrus cuttings. There was Joe in someones yard taking cuttings from their trees w/Millet standing by ready to bail him out of jail. TOO FUNNY. You guys are the best!
Got some potting up & seed planting to do. Sometime today I'll look at the 80 or so pics I took.

Patty, it was a pleasure also for me to meet you guys. I hope the Gourd seeds do well for you. I really wish I could have shown you the greenhouse and garden..even though they were both a disaster. I am sure you would have probably come away with MORE plants...I have extras of a bunch of that stuff and probably need to thin it out anyway.
Glad you made it home in one piece.
Later, Darren

Someone at the expo said there will be a video of the event. Anyone know how I can get one? Thanks

Hi Patty, The guy who was video taping the Expo is a Mr McGinnis from Florence, SC. He just showed up at my nursery the week before the Expo and asked me if I thought it would be ok to video the event. I told him I didnt think there would be a problem with that.. He is a professional TV commercial producer. He wanted to add a small segment onto the end of the tape on grafting. He said he tried to film Ned at the Expo when he was demo grafting but the crowd was too large. Hes planning on making a trip back here to film some close ups of "hands on" grafting. I will keep you guys posted on the progress of the Video.

Thanks for the info Stan. Did he say what he was going to use the video for? It was probably me in the way of his shooting the grafting session. Ned did a great job...I feel like a pro now.
The temps here are dropping fast --32* now & falling fast...brrrr. My sunroom is holding at 58* so far & I'll leave the door open a crack.
Hope y'all have a WONDERFUL & peaceful Thanksgiving!
Happy Turkey Day, Patty

What an imagination Patty!!

Taking grafting pics will be much easier when the bark is slipping on the rootstock and the enviorment is a little more conducive to making vidios and taking photos.
