Yesterday I was cutting back dead branches off my persimmon notice on the green branches this brown part in the center, what is this? is this why its dying? can it be transmitted to other trees?

This is the work of some sort of borer. I have trouble with them getting into nursery stock, but they do not seem to bother the larger trees or limbs. When I first saw it, I thought it was an ambrosia beetle, but the ones I have had seem to be limited to one or two individuals to the plant (rootstock or young grafted plant). With ambrosia beetles, there is normally a lot of them attacking at the same time. There are several borers that affect persimmons and I have never know for sure which this one is.

You are welcome R. If it is a borer, you should be able to see an entry/exit hole. With persimmons there is normally some sap bleeding from the hole. The borers that affect my persimmons are normally active in June and July. What you need to do is determine when the borer is active in your area, and apply protective insecticides during this window of activity.
