Flying dragon is slower & smaller than standard trifoliata, but will still get to a good size in a few years.

My flying dragon trees are about 8 ft tall, the standard trifoliata is about 15 ft tall.

As with any plants, some will be more virgorous than others.

Where in VT are you located?

Hi Alan

The PT is about 14feet tall. It really 'filled in' this season and has many fruits. I'm glad to hear PT is hardy as small plants in VT...........that's great. How large are you PTs?

Tim,
The tallest plants are about 4 feet high. They originated in SC and were transplanted a couple years ago. They made a lot of growth last year.

The shorter plants are about 5 years old and only 2 feet high. The seed source for them was the Arnold Arboretum. I have not fertilized any of them because of fear of winter damage.

The are growing in Bennington Vt.

A plant growing in the warmer location of Albany has always died back substantially until this year when it was moved into the shade and near a fence. It would look good until February when the damage showed up.

I can see the difference between our climates.........a two year old PT would be close to 2feet tall here.........are you growing them in summer sun?

I hear you with them needing winter shade in your area. This is the same for Aucuba japonica in my area.........no winter sun.
