Mark Tompkins is the new Director of Domestic Sales for Sunkist Growers, announced Russ Hanlin, Sunkist’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The new position is part of a realignment of responsibilities as John McGuigan leaves his position as Vice President Fresh Fruit Sales at the end of this year.

“After 25 years working for the growers of Sunkist I feel that now is the right time for me to evaluate new opportunities and to consider in what direction to focus my drive and energy moving forward,” said McGuigan. “Sunkist is a special and rewarding place to work and I’ll miss the many friends I’ve made there over the years – growers, staff and customers – but at this point in my life, I’m ready for new and different challenges.”

Tompkins, a produce industry veteran who rejoined Sunkist just over a year ago, will manage Sunkist’s domestic sales office network as well as the cooperative’s sales operations. In his previous time with Sunkist, he served as both Director of Sales Operations and Director of Domestic Sales.

To further enhance fresh fruit sales and marketing operations, David Pott is named Director of Export Sales. “Dave will manage the activities of Sunkist’s export sales staff in California as well as Sunkist personnel in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia,” said Hanlin. Before joining Sunkist as Director of Southeast Asia Sales in 2005, Pott spent many years on the production side of the citrus business at both the packinghouse and exchange levels. He will continue to work in Sunkist’s Visalia Sales Office.

Sunkist’s global sourcing business will now benefit from the combined expertise of Tompkins, Pott and Hanlin, all of whom have experience working with growers from production areas around the world. “We are fortunate to have a great deal of depth in our organization which allows us to fill these important positions from within,” Hanlin said. “And needless to say, we’re very pleased John will be working with us through December to help make this transition a seamless one.”
