Hello all,

The last few months of summer all of my trees seem to be infested with caterpillars, I dont now they are there until they have eaten half a leaf.

Keep spraying them with killer but they dont seem to die and keep on coming....

Could there be nests?

Pick the caterpillars and have a good lunch!

Or just pick and kill them.

There are also insects killers (products ) that goes into the plant and kill the insects ( with the "water" into the plant: sorry I'm no englishman ).
But you can't use it if you want to eat the fruits.
In Belgium it was called Confidor ( used against "sucking" insects ) but it's now forbidden. ( I still use it only for my cacti )


Are you sure you used the right insect killer?

I manage to keep the eggs picked off of the new growth and rarely find a catapillar that has made it to hatching--I have found a few that made it to a few mm. The eggs are single orange balls about 1 mm in diameter usually laid on the new growth.

I just used bug killer.

Yes, the new growth seems to be the main areas, will have to inspect more for the eggs.
