Last year, after reading many posts on this forum about the Page mandarin and how good it was I decided to get one. Here is a photo of one of the 4 harvested yesterday. And I might add these are probably the best mandarins I have ever had, juicy, sweet, seedless, fragrant, wow!

Ryan, thank you for you assesment. You are probably already aware, that as your Page mandarin advances in age, the fruit's quality, and taste will further improve with each harvest. In my opinion, if there is any drawback to a Page mandarin, it would be the small size of the fruit. I have encouraged my trees to produce a larger fruit size by thinning the crop to 1 fruit per every 5 leaves. It is known that the three +- closest leaves to a fruit, supplies almost all of the photosynthates to that fruit, to produce and enlarge the fruit toward full maturity. I personally have chosen to retain 5 leaves for each fruit to insure that the tree produces the largest size fruit possible. The process has turned out to be very successful. I also do the same procedure with my Marisol Clementine tree. - Millet (765-)

Would I be able to grow one of these and get it to produce fruit in Chicago if I bought one in a 5 gallon container, brought it outdoors in the spring/summer time and put it inside by a window for fall/winter?

Ron, You could absolutely grow a page mandarin tree in Chicago. Obviously, you would have to protect it from freezing temps during fall, winter and early spring. Make sure you have an adequate place to store the tree that takes into account heat, humidity, light, water and fertilizer requirements. Otherwise the tree will suffer and any fruit and growth the tree has put on during summer could be lost.

Study winter storage requirements closely before you buy so you know what you are getting into. This forum is a great place to find most of the information you need.
