Thought I would post a photo of this apparently healthy albino FD seedling that is growing in my germination tray. All of the seedlings are exhibiting legginess due to the inordinate amount of cloudy days with the record setting rainfall we have experienced this month. (currently over 9 inches with more forecast this week before month ends!) There appears to be another albino coming up though it it isn't visible in the photo. The tray is in an east-west facing bay window which would normally get sun all day. I have plastic sheeting laid over the bamboo stakes to keep them from drying out so fast in the window. I will post pics later if it continues to live.
I do apologize for the poor quality of the photo. I tried to ten times to get a good shoot, but I am too old and shaky to get it right.

Put your camera into macro mode. That and rest your elbow onto something. It help to steady the hand. Also the action of pressing the button tend to cause the camera to go out of focus. Set the camera to take picture on a timer, 10 seconds or so. During that time you can steady your hand. |

Here is a follow-up photo of the albino FD seedling.
I have been noticing that every few days, a leaf would be laying at the foot of the stalk. Today, I noticed that the stem is bare and the final leaf is lying beside it. One petiole is left on at this time. It's on it's way out....but I'm going to keep monitoring it, just for curiosity's sake.

I think it has been said in this forum before that trifoliates commonly produce these albino seedling but that they rarely survive. I had a couple of them last spring- I think they were FD also.

It is really a given that albino plants will not survive--they need chlorophyll to survive, albinos have none. _________________ Skeet

Skeeter & Kyle,
Yes I am fully aware of the prognosis, it's all been a trial of my own intrigue.
It's the same with the three rosetted FD's I have. I haven't tossed them away, again my morbid curiosity. I am hatching an idea about them. I plan to experiment with them this summer. More on that later. _________________ A small piece of land with fruit trees and a garden allows one to live as kings and queens in times of trouble. |

If you are good at micrografting, you could move it to a tree that could sustain it. _________________ Skeet
