I checked a couple of grafts I started on Jan 10th. they have white mold on them.. Shocked I scratched at the mold and the bud is still green under the mold. I think maybe it is due to I turned the tree.. and the grafts were in the sun this past week.. I have been keeping the room alot more humid that usual this past week also..
I put the tape back on the grafts after checking them.. I have no idea what to do...
Do I need to write the grafts off and remove the tape and let them dry out? Trilly-75-2 or might there be some thing I can do to save the grafts and get rid of the mold?? Pray
If pictures will help let me know.. I haven't taken any yet.. I figured I'd better run for help first.. I will go take pictures now..
Any advice will be welcome..

here are two pictures.. sorry they aren't that clear..
This is the top graft located about 15" up from dirt. It is Clementine T-bud grafted on to my Meiwa Kumquat..

This one is located about 7" up from dirt.. It is Tangelo also on My Meiwa Kumquat..

I went ahead and left the tape off.. atleast for now.. I'm worried that it might affect the host tree.. I'd much rather the buds dry out and keep the host tree than put the host tree at risk.. Sad

Gina, I have no idea what the mold looking substance is. As for the buds, they don't look good to me. None-the-less I don't think it will hurt a thing to retape them and wait a while longer. If the white stuff seems to be a problem, I think you could clean them (maybe with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol) before retaping.

Thanks Ned!!!
I rubbed them down with rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and wrapped them back up.. If it doesn't work this time I'll try try again..
I wonder if I should have cleaned the bud and the area to be grafted before grafting? like a surgeon prepping surgery area.. I cleaned the knife between bud and T both times.. but I guess clean knife isn't always enough?
