My Flame and Marsh grapefruit trees did not flower last year and I cannot find any flower buds so far this spring. Do grapefruit develop flower buds later than other citrus? Most of my orange trees are loaded with buds, but not the grapefruit. Lots of nice new growth, but no flower buds.
Have they ever flowered before? Are the grapefruits grafted or seedlings? I have a 10 year old Rio Red grapefruit seedling that is 20 feet tall and I am still waiting on it to be mature enough to flower.

Mine are grafted, 10 years old, about 12-15 feet tall. I had two fruits on the Flame a couple of years ago. I went to Lowe's Saturday, and their trees show that the buds come out after the leaves reach full size.

Interesting observation, my tree is in full flower at the present time (has been for a week or so). I will look at it today, and see what stage of development the new leaf flush is at. - Millet (1,030-)
