It was hovering around 32-33 deg F, and mostly clear skies and mild breezes. Frost were everywhere except under trees with thick canopies. Cars parked outside are covered with ice, including all sides.

None of my favorite local forecasters mentioned city-wide frost, so much for super-computer accuracies. Their temperature prediction was close, between 34 to 35 with cloudy skies, but no mention of frosts. So I think my bananas are toast this time as I haven't placed my row covers over them yet. My citruses are in great shape, and this shouldn't be a problem.

This first city-wide frost is very late in the season, normally, we have them a week before thanksgiving, which by then I have prepped up long before then.

No frost yet in Pensacola, although my dwarf cavendish banana did get some leaf damage from one of the upper 30s that we have had. We have been near 80 for most of this week-- and humid--more like a constant fog for most of the mornings. We have predictions of low 30s for early next week-- could get frost, but probably not since winds will be 15-20.

Although we had a 29*F outside, My dwarf Cavendishs, Mahoi and my other bananas are safely tucked in inside my enclosed patio.
No damage so far but inside my patio the tempt is on the low 40's.
Even my Belle whichhas only a clear plastic cover on top the leaves are still green.
I have not even install my Christmas lights.
I am waiting till the tempt goes below 30.

Joe:
Do you remember beforehand the type of banana you mentioned from your previous post that it will bloom from pup in 8 -months time.
That's when you are talking about senorita banana and that you got that from Pitangdiego .
Kindly respond ASAP so I can call Harvey to get me that too.

Wow, kind of funny Santa Rosa would be colder then Davis, but we've had several sub-freezing nights so far this season. The Saturday morning following Thanksgiving was the first and worst so far -- 27F. My citrus faired well; however, the avocado tree that came with the house was heavily damaged. It was on the come back from last year's December cold snap and was sprouting light green, tender fall growth. Most of that is now black and dead. My recent banana aquisitions -- you guys are a bad influence Laughing -- are all safely in the garage, as they are still in nursery pots.

Although we had several sub-freezing nights, the frosts have been limited. My citrus are all huddled together on my deck, under a sun-shade canopy. On the nights it looks like we may dip below freezing, I plug in the christmas lights strung across the pots. On a few nights I've clipped old bed sheets across the open sides of the canopy to contain as much of the heat as possible.

You seemed to be doing the RIGHT thing Kent.
I did the same thing except that I have not string my Christmas lights yet. There's no prediction yet that the low would be below 30*F.
