FORNER‐ALCAIDE 5 is a very resistant dwarfing cleopatra X PT developed in Valencia that is said to replace the (80%) hegemony of the Carrizo as rootstock. High tolerance to salinity, nematodes, flooding, iron chlorosis, etc

I have just received several plants of FA5.
It is said to be more productive than Carrizo, with the same size and quality fruit.
Here you can see a document in English regarding FA5:

axier,

thank you for the interesting article! Although, more details in the "performance" section would be nice... For instance, for how long the plot was flooded, etc. For me, a comparison of FAs with standard trifoliate would be of interest, especially, their cold hardiness. Are there any follow-up reports that you know about?

Thank you GT.
I don't know how long the plot was flooded, but it was long enough to kill more of 80 % of Troyer and Cleopatra trees. Not so bad!
Unfortunately I don't know articles comparing FA5 with standard trifoliate, and I doubt that there is any article about it.
Poncirus trifoliata is not usually used like rootstock in Spain.
On the other hand, hardiness is not a problem in spanish commercial citrus producing zones, and is frequently not taken into account in agronomic studies.

There are other articles which mention FA5, but they are in spanish and a bit antiquated:

You mean you are going to live there or just travel there?
Any way, if you travel by car don't forget to stop in Bergerac unless you take the east road.
You're welcome. It's half way. Good place to rest.

Sylvain.
