Yesterday I noticed my orchard planted Meyer lemon had put on a flush of blossom buds and the first one opend today. Our average first frost date is about December first but the year has been so mild that my peppers out in the unprotected garden are still growing well and putting on fruit. I just know we're going to get at least one freeze out of this winter so it looks like it'll be a Meyer lemonless year this year.

Alan, even with a freeze in January, you should get another bigger bloom in the spring, no?

Alan, the Meyer Lemon, like its lemon heritage, has a season when it produces its major bloom, but the Meyer blooms more or less thought the year. So you should be able to make some good pies or lemonade - Millet

my meyer in savannah blooms year round....with the biggie coming in March...but I , too, have noticed several thousand baby buds on it...this early? Not good. It is trying to do its "big" bloom in about 2-3 weeks...which, even in an "early" spring" is still a month to 5 weeks too soon. The only other citrus of mine that is flushing right now is my grapefruit....all is quiet with the tangelo, sastsuma, valencia, key lime and kumquat. All of them mature, all in ground.
